What Say You: The Bishop Larry Trotter Edition
A Chicago preacher, who provoked controversy when an image of him in the bath with his granddaughter emerged online, has defended his actions.
Bishop Larry Trotter, the senior pastor of the Sweet Holy Spirit Church, was accused of having inappropriate interactions with a minor after the picture was posted on his Instragram page.
In the picture, Trotter and his granddaughter smile for the camera while covered in bubbles from the neck down.
The image has stirred a huge response from the online community with many calling for child protective services to get involved.
Calling into the John Hannah Morning Show, Trotter insisted that the photo was innocent and that the backlash he received has hurt him and his family.
“It is a very dark time and a very hurtful time for my family because what was innocent has become very ugly and nasty,” he said.
According to Trotter, both him and his granddaughter had on swimming trunks, and the child’s mother took the photo. Another family member uploaded it to instagram.
Says Trotter, “I am not ashamed of what I did. I am ashamed and hurt that it has gone out into the world and people have called me everything from a child molester to a pedophile to a nasty old man.”
I personally don’t think the Bishop is up to no good, but this picture is just in poor taste and completely inappropriate. I can’t think of any reasonable situation where a little girl should be in the tub with her grandfather or her daddy for that matter. I don’t roll like that. But that’s me. I want to hear your thoughts. Let’s discuss.
I also do not think that he is any of the things he has been accused of but one must expect this sort of critisim when you post a picture like this. I am also not one for little girls taking baths with their dads or grandfathers.
I don’t believe his intentions were anything but genuine. Having said that, in this age of instant gratification, he should know better. My grandson was on the toilet on Christmas Day playing his new DS, it was too cute but I knew better than to take his pic, let alone to Tweet it!

I agree. I don’t think he’s up to dirt. This is why I have such an issue with social media, yes I use it, but we can’t even be innocent anymore. Everything has a perverse meaning behind it. My feelings and thoughts about the taking of a bath doesn’t mean that his intentions were bad. I don’t see that he had bad intentions. There’s just some things you don’t share on social media because everyone shouldn’t be invited into every aspect of your home.

Why run a bubble bath, why not take a pic in the pool???

The person who took this pic wrong for allowing it to happen. They should be smart enough to know right from wrong when it comes to kids and taking pics like this and this is just WRONG!!! Ok so look, I’m HUGE on setting boundaries with little girls. I have a daughter and its no way in hell she is gonna be in the tub with her grand father. That is inappropriate. Whether he is Chester Chester Child Molester or not, perception is reality. It’s too much going on in society for that to be considered ok. Further, little girls don’t wear swimming trunks, stop lying. I don’t trust this at all. Even if you don’t intend to harm a child, you don’t want them becoming comfortable being in close proximity to a half dressed/naked grown ass man. I agree with Teeny, has the daughter came out supporting her father? #skeptical
