Inaugural Official Says Beyonce “Did Not Sing Live”

Beyonce

An inaugural official who asked not to be identified told CNN Wednesday that pop star Beyoncé lip-synced her performance on Inauguration Day.

“She did not sing live,” the official told CNN.  A pre-recording of the artist’s rendition of the National Anthem was played instead.  What was heard by spectators and viewers was the sound of that recording, according to the official. The official said Beyoncé made the decision herself the night before Inauguration Day.

Beyoncé arrived so late Sunday night she did not have time to rehearse with the U.S. Marine Band, which was asked to accompany the pop star’s performance, according to the inauguration official.

“Because she didn’t have time to rehearse with the Marine Band, she decided to use her recording with the Marine Band,” the official added.  “It was all Beyoncé.”

The official was somewhat puzzled by Beyoncé’s decision, noting when she made the pre-recording, “she was spot on.”

She recorded her part separately from the band and her rendition was married with the band’s music, the official said.

CNN has still not received comment from Beyoncé.

My take on this: I believe Beyonce sang [live] about 10% of the National Anthem.  Her mic was on and her voice came in and out a few times.  I don’t agree with the use of a pre-record and I’ve expressed my full emotion about it on my official facebook page.  At this point, I’ll leave it at this.  Beyonce has a credibility problem and this hasn’t helped the situation.  That’s my Word and I’m sticking to it!!

  1. “The dignity of the American presidency has been tarnished! Congress must investigate. Let’s make sure this type of tragedy never happens again. And how do we know that was really Beyonce? Maybe it was a hologram or a body double!”
The above are just the (slightly) exaggerated responses of some in the cybersphere to the revelation that Beyonce Knowles might have lip-synced all or part of the national anthem at Monday’s presidential inauguration.
There are simply too many people in this country who go from zero to (faux) outrage in a matter of nanoseconds. Just look at Twitter and you will see the overuse of capital letters by people who feel CHEATED and ROBBED by the possibility of Beyonce’s prerecorded performance.

I agree with the above statement posted on CNN– by

  2. Could it be true!? Say it aint so!!! Does Jay-Z finally have 100 problems? #ITF
OAN: if you didn’t pay for a live preformance, why care? Its just like watching her video’s. Also, trust that Beyonce lipsing more than you like to think. She’s great at it. Kelly f’ed up her BEST live/fake preformance ever. Beyonce knows how to fool ya. The only reason mtv and all those other award shows haven’t out her is because they need her back. The inauguration don’t care and its not like its every year and nor is it that a black person is president every inauguration.

  3. I agree with Blackface!!!
Plus, in my opinion, she didn’t start singing live until she popped that earpiece out her ear & who really cares?!? She already gets too much ATTENTION…..next!!!!!
